Product Segment - Overview
 
Manufacturers of Components organised in the Electronic Components Division within the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association (ZVEI) and other partners are driving the introduction of Umbrella Specs approximately since fall 2001. After manifold activities we are now presenting first examples of Umbrella Specs in the internet as typical values. Although we have not completed the harmonization of the form and of the technical terms for describing all products we took the decision to go public now for many reasons:
  • With regard to the competitiveness of our members we have to save time and money when we answer our customers' material inquiries.
  • We want to promote the described method of using Umbrella Specs as de facto standard in electronics' industry.
  • We are strongly interested in the feedback of our partners for getting support and innovative ideas.
  • We want to push the introduction of Umbrella Specs.

We invite you to use our method of Umbrella Specs for retrieving material data of our products, preferred and frequently - if needed.

The criteria for product families are described in the "Guideline and Forms, Version 2.1".

 

If you start your inquiry: Please first check to which Umbrella Specification a product belongs - by part number or sales description. This information should be provided by the supplier of Components via a CrossReferenceFile on the individual company-homepage or upon request.

 

It's our goal to offer as many Umbrella Specs in the public internet as needed in order to describe the material data of the majority of Components. There will be only a minority of special products which cannot be described with Umbrella Specs. In these cases please contact the companies directly.
